I’m Kemper Sears, the “Kemper” behind Kemper’s Stitchery. I started the business about 31 years ago. Currently, I live in Missouri with my husband and we have four children. Our youngest son still lives at home, but the three oldest children are married and we now have two beautiful granddaughters.
I have been sewing for over 50 years and making quilts for 43, after teaching myself how to craft them. The first quilt I made took several years to finish since I started it while I was in high school. I continued to work on it throughout college and the first years I was married. I became more serious about my quilting in the mid 1980’s, after our third child was born. Since then, I have made several dozen quilts in a wide variety of patterns with numerous types of blocks and materials. I enjoy seeing how the patterns come to life as the cut pieces turn into blocks which then turn into quilt tops and then finished quilts.
Most of the quilts I have made over the past several years have been gifts to my extended family and friends. Everyone who has received these quilts has told me that I need to sell them, so I decided to follow their advice. I hope you will find living with them as enjoyable as I do making them.
Please take a look at the quilts that I have pictured here. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have through e-mail or by phone.
